Barefoot info

This page is for giving you more information on why going Barefoot is so healthy for your horse.
The links below will give you a wealth of information.

You know the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words"?  Well, this is certainly true for this picture!!

This thermographic image is from Dr. Strasser in her book;  "Shoeing: A Necessary Evil?"  The photo is from Scholosser.

As you can see above, this horse has one leg shod and the other 3 barefoot.  The shod leg is dark because the circulation has been greatly reduced in this leg.  This is why shod horses can go anywhere, as they cannot feel the ground.  But this lack of circulation goes much further.  Shoes gradually deform the hoof, coffin bone and lateral cartilage, which prepares the hoof for coffin bone rotation, laminitis, thrush, navicular syndrome, white line disease, ossifications, muscle problems, pain and arthritis.  It destroys horn wall through its nails, making for a loss of elasticity, insulation is breached, and reduction in metabolism due to the drop in temperature caused by not enough circulation which over stresses the heart, makes for protein imbalance, skin, liver, kidney problems and colic.  And it doesn't stop there, but to learn more, go to my Pet Friendly Magazine article down below called:  Healthy Hooves makes a Healthy Horse!  None of this stuff is made up, it's all been researched by scientists and vets.  (Dr. Strasser, Professor James Rooney, Bracy Clark, Jamie Jackson, Dr. Chris Pollitt, L. Bein...... just to name a few)!

My first link here is of our trimmer.  She has helped and saved many a horses lives.  We so appreciate her work and dedication.  If you would like to learn more about her, then just take a visit on her website.
